Help please?
by CelestialPM MemberMember Profile on Mon, 2 Apr 2012 23:23

I'm struggling to tie my characters to others. The person i tried to tie my character to was somebody else's character and i was trying to get a relationship tie to work but it kept making it either boyfriend and boyfriend or girlfriend and girlfriend. It's really aggravating. Could somebody help me? Maybe show me how to do it step by step?

I'm trying to make my character tied as 'Girlfriend' and the other character as 'Boyfriend'. Neither of us know how to do this successfully.

I've seen this happen quite a bit and have even had it happen myself from time to time. There are a couple of ways to go about it. One I treat my characters like people. Most of them take an aspect of myself and amplify it a bit. So then when interacting it's easier to decide how they act.

But onto your actual problem. Take your time. Like real relationships, to get a bond in a storyline that has the right feel it needs to be built. Most relationships starry with a single event. If you look back at all of your friendships and whatnot there will be an event that started the ball rolling. For instance, when I was in second grade I saw the kid sitting next to me drawing a picture of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I loved the cartoon and loved to draw so I started drawing them as well and asked what his favorite one was. Ever since then we've been friends (I'm almost 30 now).

So, you need to figure out what event works for your characters. Don't rush it. That's how I've failed many IC relationships. Interests, conflicts and bloopers are usually the categories that work best for me. Just remember it doesn't have to be big.

Welcome to the site Celestial.

As to making the actual relationship tie:

1. Navigate to the male character profile

2. At the top:

Join & Tie: {select your female character} as: Love > Girlfriend

Then when it's all authorised, you character will show the male character as 'Boyfriend'; from the male profile it will show your characters 'Girlfriend'.

Just tested, and this should do the trick.

Didn't realise you were a big TMNT fan, Eye--I recently heard that fans are up in arms because Michael Bay is making a reboot--sounded drastic.
