Psionics
Psionics: Any and all Special extra-ordinary Mental Capabilities of certain members of any race. Exception - The Ele'Kas are all Psionic.
Psionics is broken into three main categories: Telepathy, Telekinesis, and Elite Kinesis. Nearly all beings with psionic abilities only ever develop one of the three listed above, and never all three. Ele'Kas are the only common exceptions.
Most races do not have Telekinetics or Elite Kinetics, though most do have low level telelpaths. Humanity within the last couple hundred years has given birth to many Telepaths and Telekinetics, with a very few Elite Kinestics at all. The Cathwin have no telepaths, but have strong Telekinetics, while the Ele'Kas have all three, and all very strong.
All Psionic Displicines are rated on a scale called the Psy Scale. The ratings go from 0, which is a normal human to 14, which is the highest level for Ele'Kas. No human has ever rated above an 8 on the scale. Most races never get beyond 6.
Telepathy:
The ability to see into others minds. This allows one to read minds, project thoughts, forge memories and the highest levels can even take control of someones body for periods of time.
Telekinesis:
The ability to create tangible force in the physical world by concentration. Allows for the movement of objects and psionic force attacks, as well as force shields.
Elite Kinesis:
The rarest of all abilities. Elite Kinesis is actually a catagory covering anything not in the above. Specifically, it includes; Pyrokinesis (Control of Fire), Chronokinesis (Control of time, slowing it down, speeding it up relative to you), Clairvoyance (Seeing the past, present, future), Pyschoportation (Movement, teleportation, if you will), and Metakinesis (Control over ones own body, rearrangment of cells and organs as well as healing). All of these abilities are very rare in any race outside of the Ele'Kas, and rarely reach beyond a level 6 and never beyond a 10, even for the Ele'Kas.
