Sub-Chapter The Saldarians: A Brief Look
Racial Name Saldarian
Overview A reptilian race, Saldarians are often compared to dragons of human legend, though humanoid in form.
Biological Analysis They stand between 10 and 12 feet in height, their bodies lithe and more resembling a salamander than any other lizard. Saldarians are bipedal, and various subspecies exist, including some that are more lizard like than salamanders, or more snake-like. A majority of the population have large reptilian wings which allow them to fly.
Sociological Analysis Socially, they are very similar to the Cathwins, having been allied with that race for hundreds of years, despite also being slaves on their own planet. They are technologically advanced, though not as much as their allies
Historical Analysis A young race, Saldarians are believed to be at least 5,000 years younger than humanity.

Saldarians happen to have been a part of one of the most unique hapstances in the universe, two sentient races evolving on the same planet. Saldarians originally evolved on the same ice world as the Therens , though thousands of years later. Both races were originally warm-blooded, however the technologically advanced Therens enslaved the Saldarians and using genetic manipulation, made them intolerable to the extreme cold of the planet. This allowed them to control them as a species, forcing them onto labor stations in orbit.

Even in bondage, the Saldarians made Allies. The Cathwin dissapproved of the way the Saldarians were treated and allied themselves with them, however they only worked in the background, through diplomatic channels trying to free the Saldarians. Despite the respect Saldarians had for the Cathwin, when the Terrans offered to lead an assult on the Therens, the Saldarians accepted and began a revolution. Not wanting Saldarians to come under Human wings, the Cathwin also stepped in, supplying the Saldarians with ships. With the combined efforts of the Humans and Cathwin, The Saldarians managed to toss off their oppressors, sending the Therens into exile.
Technological Analysis Almost all of their technology they were given by the Cathwin or Terrans. The Cathwin gave the Saldarians whole fleets of old ships, the original Cathwin ship predecsors. These ships are on par with Human vessels except for two distinct differences. The first being that the A-Drive it uses is far more advanced, perhaps the most advanced of A-drives in use. The second is that the ships do not use current Artificial Gravity generators. Instead, they have a rotating habitat module that creates a gravity field. Cathwins did not invent Artificial gravity generators until much longer after they became space faring, compared to other races.
