Kaserai was once subjected to brutal beatings of her father, in some cases permanent scarification took place on her torso due to the severity of the lashings although they faded with her aging. She took happiness and comfort in her dragon hatchling friend. Zione. They played for many happy hours together. Unknown to Kaserai, Zione took a hatchling form as not to scare her, he is infact a fully grown adult male whom took pity on her.
Zione and Kaserai would wander the halls of her home, a castle doubled with a fort of sorts high upon a hill with steep drops each sides with a raging river at its base. Protected by dark magic and tens of thousands of guards. Avoiding her father as she played in the orchards of the grounds. The apple trees particularly, especially in the Autumn as the pink blossoms provided hours of fun, and in the Summer, the sweet taste of the red apples provided her with the food her father deprived her of.
Zione taught her the basics of the magic she bares, due to her youth, unable to fight he taught her the art of escape and evasion. Ensuring her survival, which explains why Kaserai although practically defenceless is very difficult to kill, slipping through the shadows, fading into water.
One fateful morning, a famine struck the castle, her and Zione saw this as an oppertunity and planned their escape, the guards were too weak to stand. Once again unknown to Kaserai this was Zione's work. Kaserai slipped out of her bedroom window using the empty toybox as her footstool climbing elegantly around and down the tree almost directly outside her window as Zione flew down beside her. The time had come to commit her final escape. This time. It was for good.
Kaserai squeezed under the barbed gates scratching her back, ripping her clothes before squeezing to freedom, looking round she realised Zione had been caught. Her heart sank as she began to crawl back into the castle grounds, her back oozing cherry red blood, tears of pain swelling in her eyes. Through her tears she made out heavy, broad boots. She swallowed hard raising her eyes to see her father stood at 6ft, his arms folded above her. Before she could even move the boot lifted and swang into her right cheek almost fracturing it 'Insolence' he growled knocking her back under the barbs, despite her fathers plan sending her sliding half concious down the hill.
'Run' a wise male voice echoed to her mind as she came around further, still a little dazed although she was brought around quickly at her fathers voice 'After her!' a bold roar echoed from within the walls.
A thunder of feet arose as Kaserai scrambled to her feet and ran as fast as she could, as far as she could, 'Zione!' she echoed in her mind only to hear 'Save yourself' in a gentle, somehow soothing growl of a voice. Tears broke past her eyes hearing the jeers of the guards of what punishments she would face, or which sick fantasy she would fulfil when they caught her.
Kaserai, only about six years of age soon grew exhausted although the beatings and rape she enjured for her bad behaviour increased her stamina, she curled up in a bush bleeding from her back, mouth and right eye. Breathing heavily yet softly she lay and waited praying she would not be found.

Hours passed.

A gloved hand yanked Kaserai from her thorn bush some hours later, she shreiked in detest as she recognised it as one of her fathers guards. Kicking her legs and frailing desperately trying to free herself. The guard smirked at her as Kaserai brought her legs to her chest defensively, crossed at her ankles as the guard looked behind him to call the others, when suddenly his mouth leaked a pale red liquid she instantly recognised as salivaed blood. She covered her mouth with her small pale hands as to not scream and alert the other guards. The guard dropped Kaserai who landed with a thud, her fingers touching her right cheek as the bone restructured, her purplish skin became her typical pale complexion again, she fell to her knees watching in wide eyed horror as the guard desperately tried to scream clutching his throat as it began to split into two, the top of his spine visable now, his wind pipe snapped from its rightful resting place, leaning out at a right angle. Kaserai gasped, unable to look away as a black mist seeped from the still very alive body drifting over to her. It formed in a ball, floating infront of her. Kaserai shuffled away from it fearfully but it followed 'Zione sent me...' it smirked in a somehow deviously seductive voice 'You dont have to fear me.' Kaserai nodded looking at the corpse 'Stop his pain...' she begged, unable to find it in herself despite everything to see a man in such pain. The mist bobbed in a shrug 'Ok' he sang, the guard became still and stiff, his eyes glazed as death consumed him.
Kaserai bit her lip, with a frail voice whispered 'I didnt mean...' she stopped, and crawled towards him reaching out to touch him before the mist stopped her by blocking her touch 'Dont touch' he jeered 'Or he'll come back... and you dont want that, do you' he asked with a sly tone. Kaserai shook her head moving away from the body 'Come on' Mist ordered drifting passed her floating along for hours with Kaserai stumbling after him in silence though her feet were blistered and sore before finally coming to a glade, where the fireflies danced above the peaceful, clear lake each night for her. Where the trees protected her from the rain.
Kaserai has remained here, ever since.
